1) Position: Early Voting Poll Worker
Dates: Early Voting runs October 20 – 31
Times: Multiple Shifts are Available
Location: Multiple Locations are Available throughout the County
Requirements: You must be a registered voter in Travis County and 18 years of age. You must be able to work the full Early Voting period and attend a hands-on training session. Knowledge of Spanish is not required, but is a plus.
Duties: In this position, you will work as a poll worker for 12 days at one of the many early voting sites we have throughout the County. Early Voting workers are trained to become especially adept at handling customer service situations, teaching people how to vote on our electronic equipment, checking voters in on laptop computers, properly issuing electronic ballot codes to voters, and ensuring that all voters have signed in prior to voting.
2) Position: Election Day Poll Worker
Dates: Election Day is Tuesday, November 4
Times: 6:00 a.m. until approximately 8:00 p.m.
Location: Multiple Locations are Available
Requirements: You must be a registered voter in Travis County and 18 years of age. You must attend a hands-on training session. Knowledge of Spanish is not required, but is a plus.
Duties: The job duties of an Election Day worker are similar to an Early Voting worker, but everything happens in one day. On Election Day, everyone must vote in their precinct of residence, so the atmosphere in an Election Day polling place often becomes festive as neighbors greet each other while standing in line to vote. We prefer if you are willing to work the entire time period from 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. or until the polls close, but will consider shorter shifts.
3) Position: Receiving Substation Worker
Dates: Election Night on Tuesday, November 4
Times: 6:00 p.m. until approximately 10:30 p.m.
Location: There are four different Substations in Travis County
Requirements: The minimum age is 16 for Substation Workers
Duties: If you want to go where the action is and your time is limited, the Receiving Substation (RSS) is where you belong. The RSS is a hub of activity where poll workers surrender their ballot boxes, voting equipment, and supplies; and Sheriff’s Deputies and Constables transport the election results to the Central Counting Station to be counted.
